Swiss Commission of Arbitration
ICC Switzerland runs the secretariat of the Swiss Commission of Arbitration and ADR.
As the main body of ICC Switzerland for ICC Arbitration, the Commission:
- coordinates the activities of the Swiss Delegates to the ICC Arbitration Commission and its Task Forces;
- comments in the name of ICC Switzerland on proposed modifications to the ICC Arbitration Rules, on the activities of the ICC Arbitration Commission and its Task Forces;
- organizes events on topics related to ICC dispute resolution;
- organizes a biennial visit to the ICC Court in Paris in order to facilitate contact between the Court, its Secretariat and Swiss arbitration practitioners;
- maintains essential dialogue with Swiss authorities (e.g., the Federal Office of Justice) and academic institutions;
- promotes ICC Dispute Resolution Services within Switzerland.

Pursuant to the ICC Rules of Arbitration, when the ICC Court of Arbitration is to appoint an arbitrator, National Committees may be requested to assist the Court by proposing the best-suited candidate for appointment. In order to ensure the neutrality of the process, ICC Switzerland has created a Nomination Committee in charge of proposing arbitrators to the Court.
The Swiss Arbitration Nomination Committee
- prepares proposals for nominations of arbitrators pursuant to Art. 13(3) of the ICC Rules 2017 (or as amended after the entry into force of these Organizational Regulations);
- performs any other activity related to the work of the ICC and to the ICC Rules that may be assigned to ICC Switzerland by amended ICC Arbitration Rules.
The organization of the workflow of the Swiss Nomination Committee for the proposals for nominations of arbitrators is regulated in a workflow manual established and approved by the Swiss ICC Arbitration Commission (the "Swiss Nomination Committee Workflow Manual").
